Description
UMG 103-CBM is a universal measuring device designed for DIN rail mounting in low-voltage switchgear. It is used to measure and control electrical parameters in energy distribution systems. The device allows the measurement of harmonic currents up to 40th harmonic.
Main features of the UMG 103-CBM
Harmonics
Harmonic currents are generated by loads with non-linear characteristics, such as transformers operating in a saturated state, energy-saving lamps, frequency converters and power electronics. These cause an additional load on the network with distorted currents, which can lead to malfunctions and even damage to equipment. Such network distortions can be detected and documented using power quality analysers.
Modbus interface
Many UMG metering devices are equipped with a RS-485 interface with the Modbus RTU protocol, which enables very cost-effective communication networks. The solution is characterised by a simple topology and high resistance to electromagnetic interference (EMC). Communication between the transmitter and receiver is carried out wired using a shielded twisted pair cable.
GridVis®
GridVis® is a comprehensive and scalable software for building energy monitoring and power quality surveillance systems. It is used to program and configure multiple UMG metering devices, as well as to read, process and analyse metering data. Typical application areas include energy distribution systems, industrial plants, facility management, etc.
Limit value monitoring
The limit value monitoring function can be used for both alarm management and switching operations. The corresponding UMG measuring devices have digital outputs that can also act as control outputs. This allows specific responses to be automatically triggered if a set threshold value is exceeded or not reached.
Functions and features
